Environmental Health Grand Rounds

Optimizing Environmental Public Health Practice with Geographic Information Systems (GIS)

In this seminar, Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Analyst Serene Ong and Statistical Analyst Andrew Mackey from the Division of Environmental Health Services, Department of Public Health in San Berardino County, California, will provide an overview of what GIS is, how it can be used in environmental public health practice, and its contributions toward improving field workflows. Following their presentation, a panel of experts who use GIS will share their perspectives on how this technology is deployed to improve field monitoring and response operations, for fostering interagency collaboration and partnerships, and for continuous improvement across the many fields of environmental public health.

These virtual seminars were specifically chosen for undergraduate and graduate students studying environmental sciences and environmental public health.

The series highlights the workforce behind environmental health, and current and emerging environmental hazards, particularly for specific communities. Each session includes a panel discussion with environmental health professionals.
